The NRA FIRST Steps Shotgun course is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific shotgun model. This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific model shotgun at a moving target. The Hunter Education Field Course is taught by Elm Fork Training Team TPWD Certified Instructors. The course represents Part 2 of the Texas Hunter Education certification process and includes a 5-hour presentation of ethical and responsible hunting, participation in a hunting skills trail, a live firing exercise, review of regulations and a final exam (score at least 75% to pass). Elm Fork Training Team DPS Certified LTC Instructors will guide you through the laws of the State of Texas concerning Handgun Licensing requirements as well as those laws that regulate License To Carry holders as outlined by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Additional topics include the use of force and deadly force, non-violent conflict resolution, handgun safety, storage and use. This class is at least five hours long to compete the classroom portion.
